In this interview, I speak with Yves Coussement. After falling ill and experiencing mistreatment in the hospital, Yves faced two choices: file a complaint or join a patient-partner program. He chose the latter. Today, he speaks at numerous courses and universities to raise awareness among healthcare professionals. He teaches them that patients with chronic illnesses are knowledgeable about their conditions; they are not simply "burdens" to be cared for. This interview shed light on the necessary shift in perspective to humanize our healthcare system. It's about seeing the people behind the illnesses and co-creating their care pathway with them. Yves discusses these painful subjects with humor.
