Examining Halo 3's Crash Landing
The first time I played Halo 3’s opening mission Sierra 117, I must say, I was a little surprised - Bungie began Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2's campaigns aboard a human spaceship and space station respectively, and with a trend emerging, I was expecting similar from Halo 3 Halo 3 instead, however, went in completely the opposite direction, eschewing the mostly narrow hallways and muted colour palettes of Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2 for a bright, colourful jungle, worlds away from the environments of the Halo series’ previous entries. In this video, I analyse everything from Sierra 117's level design and gameplay to its story, setting and soundtrack, to try and analyse why it's such a unique experience, while also drawing comparisons to Halo 3 mission Cortana and Halo Infinite's opening as well as other games in Bungie's amazing Halo series.
