The Covenant in Bungie's Halo 3 is the Halo series jewel in the crown, a level so extraordinary that it’s not just the best in Halo 3 and in the Halo series as a whole, but also in the entire FPS genre. It may not be the Halo trilogy’s final mission, with Cortana and Halo following once it’s concluded, but it certainly feels like it is, with basically everything that makes the Halo series so beloved included by the bucket load. Some may think I’m overexaggerating when I say this, but I genuinely believe The Covenant to be nigh on perfect.
