Marie Schneider - das schreckliche Mädchen

When a three-year-old girl fell from a stairwell window onto the pavement in the courtyard of an apartment complex at Palisadenstraße 77 in Berlin on July 7, 1886, it was initially assumed to be a tragic accident. The girl died shortly afterwards in the hospital. However, the girl was completely unknown at the scene of the accident. It turns out that she was little Margarethe Dietrich from the house at Waßmannstraße 34, about a kilometer away. But how did the girl get there, and why did she fall from this particular window? During the police investigation, a resident of the building made an important statement: he had seen little Margarethe at the open window with 12-year-old Marie Schneider, who lived in the building. And he had heard Marie say something whose significance only became clear to him later. But could Marie actually have had something to do with this incident?
