During the twenty years of Fascism, the Italian Royal Navy developed dozens of ambitious naval projects that never saw the light of day. Battleships weighing over 40,000 tons, aircraft carriers converted from ocean liners, experimental submarines, and next-generation destroyers remained on paper or with their keels abandoned in shipyards. This video retraces the most important unfinished projects of the Royal Navy, divided by category, from large battleships to auxiliary vessels, from landing craft to modernization programs that never began. The story of a navy that aspired to dominate the Mediterranean and failed to complete many of the projects it had envisioned.
