The Minato Ohashi Bridge on the Hanshin Expressway's Wangan Line and Osaka Port Line is an ultra-huge truss bridge designed over 50 years ago. Since its completion 50 years ago, its central span of 510m has made it the third longest truss bridge in the world, the longest in the Orient, and of course in Japan. That record has not been broken to this day. And it's a two-story bridge. It's the longest double-deck truss bridge in the world. When this Minato Ohashi Bridge was built, there was no technology to build a suspension bridge with a span length of over 500m. Our predecessors made full use of the technology they had cultivated since the Meiji era, the technology of truss bridges, to build the bridge over 510m. They built the Minato Ohashi Bridge using the Gerber truss technique. This time, we will introduce this ultra-huge truss bridge, Minato Ohashi, along with the Kanmon Bridge, Japan's first long-span suspension bridge, which was planned and built around the same time.
