Gran Canaria: Von Ayacata über La Goleta zum Ventana del Nublo

Good weather was forecast for the mountains today, so we drove inland to the area near Ayacata. The route, as usual, took us through the Fataga Biosphere Reserve and the town of the same name. We then bypassed the town of San Bartolomé and followed the GC-60. We parked the car at the Bar la Candelilla, about 1.5 km before Ayacata. The plan was to start a circular hike from here and finish at the bar. But, as usual, things didn't go according to plan. We initially followed the GC-60 to Ayacata. From there, we took the direct route up to the checkpoint for hikers heading towards Roque Nublo. From La Goleta, the route leads over the El Montanón peak to the Degollada de los Homos trail junction. From there, the path descends to the Ventana del Nublo stone arch. The last few meters down to Bar la Candelilla should have led across the plateau from the arch, but we had to turn back.
