Gran Canaria: Palmitos Runde

After yesterday's relatively poor weather in the mountains, we're staying in the southern part of the island again today. We'll drive through Playa del Ingles and San Fernando into the mountains. Above the Barranco de los Palmitos, the narrow GC 503 winds its way via Monte Leon to the Cima Petro Gonzales viewpoint. Here we park the car and enjoy the first stunning view into the Barranco Ayagaures. When you're in the resort towns of the Costa Canaria, you wouldn't believe that just 10 km inland – after passing through a rather unappealing settlement – ​​a different world begins. This short, leisurely, and sometimes steep hike follows marked trails. Here you'll traverse dramatic cliffs, pine forests, and find yourself in a secluded natural setting. Nevertheless, the landscape still has a lot to offer hikers.
