Thank you!! 🔵 DRIVING TEST: WHEN, HOW AND WHY TO USE MIRRORS AND INDICATORS. In this video I explain when and how to use mirrors and indicators in a driving test. WHEN TO USE MIRRORS AND INDICATORS The lateral movements of the vehicle must be performed in many situations. Let's now look at the main ones that can happen during normal traffic and consequently also during a driving test. 1. In first place we obviously put turning maneuvers: 2. In second place we put lane changes 3. In third place we put stops, or cases in which we will pull over with the vehicle to the edge of the roadway 4. In fourth place, after stops, we put merging into the flow of traffic 5. In fifth place we put overtaking. When talking about overtaking, however, do not only imagine the situation in which a car overtakes another, or the overtaking of a truck or who knows what other vehicle. By overtaking we generally mean that maneuver that allows us to pass in front of another moving vehicle, which could also be a simple cyclist, but also an obstacle, such as a car partially parked on the roadway, a construction site that occupies part of the lane, or who knows what else, but in any case something that will force us to move sideways with the vehicle. Here we need to make a clarification: the indicator must be kept on only for the time strictly necessary to perform the lateral movement of the vehicle, and not for the entire overtaking maneuver, including re-entry. For example, if we have to overtake a row of vehicles partially parked on the roadway, we will have to check the left and center mirrors, and turn on the left indicator, which however we will not have to keep on to pass the entire row of vehicles, but only for the actual time it will take us to move sideways. We will overtake all the parked vehicles without the direction indicator on; this is because to perform the maneuver we will proceed in a straight manner. If we kept the turn signal on the whole time, and there was a side road on our left, others might also believe that our intention was to turn, and we could thus lead them to perform incorrect maneuvers, even to the point of causing accidents. Even for example, to overtake the cyclist, we will not have to keep the turn signal on the whole time of the overtaking, but it will be enough to turn it on, move a little sideways and then take it off, and carry out, and then also complete the overtaking, without keeping the turn signal on. The ones I talked about are obviously the main situations in which you need to use the rearview mirrors and turn signals while driving. The examiner, during the exam, will pay close attention to the correct use of mirrors and turn signals, since their correct use is essential to be able to drive safely.
