For this video, I reached the Master Ball Rank for the third time for double battles using the Aurorus Team, meaning I’ve now gone three for three in seasons with this team. However, I had a bit less time to do it for M-3 because it’s only three weeks long, compared to sub-seasons M-1 and M-2, both of which were…five weeks, I believe. I have no idea why they’re shorter this time around. Pikachu & Eevee) My Pokémon: Mac (Mudsdale), Abner (Absol), Lamar (Mudsdale) Paolo (Quaquaval) Opponent’s Pokémon: Farigiraf, Incineroar, Torkoal, Tyranitar Even I didn’t expect this match to go so well for me—I simply picked my opener of Mac (Mudsdale) and Abner (Absol) to deal with Farigiraf-induced Trick Room, Mac (Mudsdale) who thrives under Trick Room with his low Speed and Abner (Absol) in hops of knocking out Farigiraf before Trick Room can be used. It didn’t work, due to Incineroar accompanying Farigiraf buying time for a turn, but their switch-out from Farigiraf to Torkoal meant dealing with a subsequent super-effective attack that would eat into their Eruption damage by a lot. It also happened to be on the same turn as I would switch out Abner (Absol) to Lamar (Aurorus), which immediately removed their harsh sunlight. Also, Focus Sash on Incineroar? That’s a first for me. 02:38 - Battle #2 Type: Double Battle Opponent: Prd4k1ng Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Canari My Pokémon: Mac (Mudsdale), Paolo (Quaquaval), Rigel (Manectric), Lamar (Aurorus) Opponent’s Pokémon: Sneasler, Pelipper, Swampert, Archaludon My opponent had a 4-win streak coming into this battle, which told me they’re savvy to how the mechanics in Pokémon battling work and that they won’t be fooled so easily—and here, they chose to begin with Pelipper but save Swampert for later (to Mega Evolve and exploit Swift Swim while Pelipper flies over Earthquake attacks). Mega Swampert has to fight with its slower Speed when the weather is neutral or anything other than rain though. I wonder if my opponent was on autopilot, keeping Pelipper around and Mega Evolving Swampert anyway in the snow. That is still some incredible power on Mega Swampert regardless, dealing about 55% of Lamar’s (Aurorus’s) total HP, even if it’s super-effective, considering Ice-types like him take half physical damage in the snow. 07:46 - Battle #3 Type: Double Battle Opponent: vieira Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Trainer (Legends: Z-A) My Pokémon: Mac (Mudsdale), Rigel (Manectric), Lamar (Aurorus), Rosalyn (Roserade) Opponent’s Pokémon: Incineroar, Sneasler, Venusaur, Charizard This wouldn’t be that notable of a battle, except for one thing: my opponent’s fixation on Rigel (Manectric), determined to knock him out at all costs. Were they thinking about the weekly mission to win 3 Ranked battles without you losing any Pokémon, and they were determined to not make that one of them? (I still had two left. Not a big deal if I can’t get it though.) 11:25 - Battle #4 Type: Double Battle Opponent: Tenebris Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Trainer (Heart Gold & Soul Silver) My Pokémon: Mac (Mudsdale), Rigel (Manectric), Lamar (Aurorus), Rosalyn (Roserade) Opponent’s Pokémon: Sneasler, Ricitos (Whimsicott), Lizardo (Charizard), Smoke (Meowscarada) The more that time goes on, the more HP Mega Charizard Y seems to be at when Rigel (Manectric) uses Thunderbolt. (Also, the reason I used a move other than Protect is because of the likelihood of Whimsicott simply using Encore the following turn.) WHile a second Thunderbolt could do the trick, having just him and Mac (Mudsdale) left with a Meowscarada on the other side meant they’re both at risk, and having not used Overheat prior, chances are they didn't know they were the one at risk, especially as I could confirm the previous turn that they do NOT have a Choice Scarf on Smoke (that Meowscarada). This is the match that took me back to Master Ball Tier for the third time. I didn’t know there was a cutscene with Caraway if you do it three times! 16:26 - This is that cutscene.
