Pokémon Champions - Monthly Challenge Series - June 2026

Here are some matches I played for the Monthly Challenge Online Competition for June 2026. They said to use single battles, so I went in with the Forretress Team again. The signup period, however, happened to be when I was doing some further testing with this team. While you can’t really see it in these battles as I edited out anything obvious, there were some differences to a few of their moves, their hold items, and their stat spreads. I had made more changes since, but what you register for an Online Competition is what you’ll have to stick with, so I didn’t do quite as well here as some of the ideas were not so great. 00:00 - Battle #1 Type: Single Battle Opponent: ヒロ コキー (Hikorokii) Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Battle Arena My Pokémon: Samantha (Toucannon), Dolores (Basculegion) (Female), Victoria (Victreebel) Opponent’s Pokémon: the•M (Mamoswine), the•G (Garchomp), the•L (Charizard) Actually, you might be able to tell that one of the hold items is different here—this was part of that test that didn’t work out, but I had to commit to it. I was kind of surprised to see Sucker Punch did enough damage for it to matter, but then again, I do remember Sucker Punch taking away 26% to 29% of Mega Charizard Y’s HP. My opponent’s nicknames are based on what letter their English-transcribed Japanese names begin with: “M” for マンムー (“Manmuu,” or Mamoswine), “G” for ガビリアス (“Gaburiasu,” or Garchomp), and “L” for リザードン (“Lizardon,” or Charizard). 03:08 - Battle #2 Type: Single Battle Opponent: ナッツ (Natsu) Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Battle Arena My Pokémon: Dolores (Basculegion) (Female), Victoria (Victreebel), Samantha (Toucannon) Opponent’s Pokémon: Emboar, Meganium, Garchomp I don’t see Emboar too much—but I am still surprised that a Surf from Dolores (Basculegion) was all that was needed, as Emboar is pretty good at taking a hit. As most Mega Meganium are faster than Victoria (Victreebel) though, and can one-shot her with Weather Ball, I wonder if Samantha (Toucannon) might be a better matchup against Mega Meganium, able to withstand a hit and land a super-effective Beak Blast. My opponent may have named themselves after the protagonist of the manga and anime Fairy Tail. 06:06 - Battle #3 Type: Single Battle Opponent: Husser76 Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Battle Arena My Pokémon: Dolores (Basculegion) (Female), Victoria (Victreebel), Samantha (Toucannon) Opponent’s Pokémon: Rhyperior Rhyperior was an early attempt to bring credibility to the Rock-type by giving the Rock/Ground Rhyperior the Ability Solid Rock, which partially mitigates its x4 weaknesses to Water and Ground. Personally, it is not enough, but Rhyperior can stomp on a lot of Pokémon not of those two types, as well as most physical attackers. 07:06 - Battle #4 Type: Single Battle Opponent: Castguy Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Battle Arena My Pokémon: Dolores (Basculegion) (Female), Victoria (Victreebel), Rex (Tyrantrum) Opponent’s Pokémon: Mamoswine, Raichu, Scizor My opponent’s rating of about 1,529 put them substantially higher than mine, which was about 1,475 when I began this match. But rating means nothing when up against teams like mine. (Here is Mamoswine again, by the way.) They used Mega Raichu Y, who is pretty fearsome and the talk of a lot of discussion regarding the new Mega Evolutions. With a big increase in Speed and Sp. Attack, Mega Raichu Y also gets No Guard, giving it perfect accuracy on moves like Zap Cannon and Focus Blast, eliminating the drawbacks of low accuracy on these powerful moves. However, it has one of the lowest physical defenses of any Mega Evolution, which I was ultimately able to exploit. 10:28 - Battle #5 Type: Single Battle Opponent: PHEONIX 07 Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Battle Arena My Pokémon: Rex (Tyrantrum), Dolores (Basculegion) (Female), Shirley (Meowstic) Opponent’s Pokémon: Gengar, Mimikyu, Charizard My opponent here was able to climb above 1500 in the ratings with a special-attacking Mimikyu. Honestly, that’s a new one for me. It’s also a physical attacking one with Shadow Sneak, but I got lucky and used Cursed Body, copied from Gengar, to prevent them from using Shadow Sneak after the first time.
