Bell Ringing at Guildford Cathedral
Guildford cathedral bells are mears bells cast at various times throughout the 1960s and 70s. They are truly superb bells especially the tenor! The handling is top notch and there is little oddstruckness and almost no tower movement. the only thing you have to do is hold them up round the front which is difficult because the trebles are quite flighty because of the long draft. They hang in a wooden frame by Mears and Stainbank which helps adding to the mellow sound of the back bells. The cathedral is fairly modern unlike most other ancient cathedrals with Coventry being another exception. it was built between 1936 and 1961. it is architecturally stunning inside. Tenor 30-1-10 in D HE HE HE!
