Spoiler: it rained ALL DAY. Backpacking in Japan's Northern Alps, Ep. 3 | Karasawa Hutte Yokoo Sanso

In today's episode, I woke up after an entire night of rain and gale force winds to....more rain! Yay. I packed up and headed down to Yokoo Sanso where I registered my tent and set up camp for a long day of waiting out the rain. It was beautiful to come down from the higher elevation of Karasawa Hutte with the rain clouds swirling and hearing the sounds of rain drops in the forest. I loved that part of the hiking. I'll see y'all in the next episode :) Cold Soak Oatmeal (one example): 1/2 cup quick cook oats (as in, the 1-minute ones) heaping tablespoon peanut butter powder heaping tablespoon vanilla protein powder tablespoon powdered milk or collagen powder teaspoon chia seeds teaspoon ground flax seeds sprinkling of each: walnut pieces, shaved almonds, dried banana chips, dried cranberries You can also leave out the peanut butter and add different kinds of seeds and nuts to make it more savory; I like to make a few different variations for each trip.
