Building a 16 Ton Hydraulic FORGING PRESS
This video documents my journey building a 16 Ton Hydraulic Forging press. My press was constructed with 1 inch plate, 3/8 inch angle iron, and 1/4 inch square tubing. I used an oxy propane cutting torch to cut out the pieces. This is a 220 volt machine. It runs off a 5 hp electric motor that turns a 2 stage, 11 gallon per minute hydraulic pump. The force is applied by a hydraulic cylinder with a 4 inch bore and 10 inch stroke length. The system pressure is capped at about 2,550PSI by the hydraulic valve.
