The couple investigated for being part of a multi-million dollar scheme involving electronic fraud and money laundering in the Federal District were released after a custody hearing, but remain the target of investigations by the Civil Police. Lara Daniella Oliveira Cruz, 27, and her fiancé, Luan Mateus Feliciano, 25, were arrested during the operation, but will face trial while free. According to the Civil Police, the criminal organization allegedly moved more than R$ 1 million through online scams, hacking into computer devices, and money laundering. Investigations indicate that Lara used bank accounts to receive, move, and distribute funds obtained from the crimes, in addition to flaunting a lifestyle on social media incompatible with her declared income. During the operation, six arrest warrants and 11 search and seizure warrants were executed. Cell phones, computers, and other electronic equipment were collected and will be examined. Police say the group was structured, recruiting people to provide bank accounts and open shell companies used to conceal the origin of the money. Those under investigation could face charges of criminal organization, electronic fraud, computer intrusion, money laundering, and falsification of documents. Lara's defense stated that their client has been cooperating with authorities since the beginning of the investigations and emphasized her right to the presumption of innocence.
