#36: Dos chicas nicaragüenses en la U / Serie "Los nombres detrás de los edificios": Ermelinda Mora

In the first report, we pay tribute to the efforts of Nicaraguan students at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). These individuals were forced to leave their country due to the Daniel Ortega dictatorship, primarily following the 2018 student protests, which triggered a significant migration to Costa Rica. From this wave, we share the stories of two young Nicaraguans who persevered to gain admission to the UCR and who now dream of a promising future. In the second segment, we continue our series “The Names Behind the Buildings” to discover why the Children’s Laboratory Center at the Western Campus in San Ramón is named after Ermelinda Mora Carvajal. In fact, this woman’s life is connected to the legendary Pepe Figueres.
