The Kagura-Uta (Divine Poetry) series is a "Mythological Soundscape" that weaves the essence of the Yaoyorozu-no-Kami (the millions of deities) living in Japanese mythology into modern forms of sound and poetry. 🌑 About the Work | IZANAMI-NO-MIKOTO This piece, "Yomi and Izumi (The Underworld and the Spring)," is a sacred hymn dedicated to praising and quietly reflecting upon Izanami-no-Mikoto, the goddess who governs "Life and Death" and "Birth and Parting" in Japanese mythology. After completing the creation of the Japanese islands and the gods, Izanami lost her life giving birth to the god of fire and returned to Yomi-no-Kuni (the Land of the Dead). This myth is not merely a story of "death," but a tale of the eternal circulation of life, passed down across the boundaries of existence. 🌘 Haha no inori — The Poetry of Boundaries The darkness of the underworld (Yomi) and the life that flows forth like a spring (Izumi). The heart that reaches out for a loved one, knowing there is no return. The pain of parting, yet the necessity of living on in this world.
