Mr. Jean: “60–70% of Southern Cameroonians Want to Stay” But Where Is the Data?
Mr. Jean believes that approximately 60–70% of Southern Cameroonians may prefer to remain within the present political arrangement if their fundamental problems are genuinely addressed. He also suggested that many who appear to support separation may primarily want justice, security, accountability, and meaningful reforms. That raises an important question: How do we actually know what the people of Southern Cameroons want? For decades, individuals and organizations have made competing claims about the wishes of millions of Southern Cameroonians. Some say the majority want independence. Others say most would remain if the system were genuinely reformed. Where is the evidence? In this conversation, Mr. Jean also shares how he came to understand the Southern Cameroons question differently after hearing the legal, historical, and institutional issues explained. This discussion is not about attacking anyone or forcing people into a predetermined position. It is about encouraging serious, evidence-based dialogue and allowing the people themselves to speak. Take the Public Authorization, Legitimacy & Future Assessment https://scdf.scclarity.org/public-aut... The assessment asks Southern Cameroonians: Should Southern Cameroons remain or leave? Would you stay if the problems were genuinely solved? Would you still leave even if the problems were solved? Who, if anyone, is legitimately authorized to speak for the people? What standards should determine political legitimacy and public representation? Instead of relying on assumptions, slogans, or competing claims, let us collect credible public evidence. If the majority want to stay, let the evidence show it. If the majority want to leave, let the evidence show it. If the majority simply want their problems solved, let the evidence show it. Whatever the answer may be, it should come from the people—not from assumptions. After completing the assessment, please share it with your family, friends, churches, community organizations, and Southern Cameroonians across the homeland and the diaspora.
