Officially, the head of state is on another private trip. But in Yaoundé, the atmosphere is one of an waning reign: financial scandals, clan warfare, a forged decree on the vice-presidency, revelations about public finances... The Biya regime seems more fragile than ever. One year after the presidential election of October 12, 2025, one question deserves to be asked again: what really happened during that election? Because beyond Paul Biya's official victory, many now believe that the regime has lost the political battle, even the battle for legitimacy. Yet, this fragility is not benefiting the opposition. Between Issa Tchiroma's exile, the persistent divisions with Maurice Kamto's supporters, and the lack of a common strategy, the opposition is struggling to transform the regime's waning influence into a genuine alternative. And so, one is tempted to ask: what unspoken tensions have arisen within this opposition and among its leading figures in the last quarter of 2025? Is the Biya regime sabotaging itself from within? Or does it still possess the necessary resources to orchestrate its own succession?
