4.3 Liter egmo im Porsche 964 Carrera 4 | Der Stand der Dinge | Swissboogie | Eggenberger Motorenbau
NEW on Carsten Krome Networks @YouTube: Porsche 964 Restomod egmo 4.3l - Eggenberger Motorenbau AG - Swissboogie - Current Status 100 hp per liter – with fan-assisted air cooling and two valves per cylinder: This is the ambitious development goal of Nick Portenier and Lothar Rothenheber of Eggenberger Motorenbau AG, or egmo for short. But how far are the two partners from achieving it? A recent visit to their historic site in Lyss, Switzerland, in the Bernese Seeland region, provides the answer. With 410 hp from 4.3 liters of displacement, the targeted threshold is no longer out of reach. But as is so often the case in top-level motorsport, the last few meters – or horsepower – can only be achieved through meticulous fine-tuning. For example, a further revised carbon fiber air intake manifold has reduced flow resistance on the intake side to a minimum. Moreover, the redesigned intake manifold looks exceptionally attractive, a true visual upgrade in the cramped engine compartment of any iconic 964-generation Porsche 911. For their current assessment, with a view of the iconic Swiss mountains Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, Portenier and Rothenheber present a special application example: a 964 Carrera 4 with all-wheel drive and no wider bodywork. Its owner wanted the maximum possible performance from the engine. The distribution of the highly dynamic drive power to both axles encouraged the Swiss enthusiast to pursue his extraordinary approach. Does the concept prove itself in practice? Test drives in the area around Lyss, documented in video footage, reveal the answer. But that's not all: Nick Portenier and Lothar Rothenheber offer insights into the various trades involved in creating an egmo engine with Swiss road approval (MFK). Did you know, for example, how wiring harnesses are manufactured on-site and the effort required to reliably measure horsepower? Is that too technical for you? Then rest assured: you'll also get a detailed look at the latest Backdate project, based on the 964 platform, which we realized together with Urs Erbacher. And why is this film called Swissboogie? The answer: not only because the name itself is quite fitting, but also because one of the selected locations was decorated with that very term. Intrigued?
