Swiss customs on the eve of All Saints' Day – what would you suggest? Perhaps a contemplative stop at Eggenberger Motorenbau AG, or egmo for short, to attend a vehicle premiere the very next day at the Zurich Exhibition Center? Yes, that idea is certainly rather unusual. But that's exactly what we did on Halloween 2023 to commemorate the completion of the first Erbacher Porsche 911 in "Maritime Blue" with a red interior. Three months earlier, we had documented at least the final phase of the complete build at the egmo site in Lyss in the Bernese Seeland region. The latest backdated beauty from the Erbacher/egmo consortium was to be presented to the trade audience at the renowned "Auto Zürich" show. So, after our September days in Arosa, we returned to Switzerland to visit the Zurich Exhibition Center. The evening before, we met engine specialist Lothar Rothenheber to shed more light on the 4.3-liter high-performance engine and its current state of development. But that's not all, as our latest video production will show. We haven't yet been to the cylinder grinding room at Eggenberger Motorenbau AG, but we have been just a door away – curious, but ultimately understandable. Because on this historic site, where factory and winning cars were prepared for the European Touring Car Championship as early as the mid-1980s, there's more to see than the human eye can grasp. This time, we locked ourselves in the holy halls on Halloween to take an even deeper look behind the scenes – and to answer the question of whether the hoped-for 100 hp per liter of power for the 4.3-liter engine in the retro-look 911 is now within reach, and whether there are any further research and development successes to report. Finally, there's another reunion: namely with the "Sahara" beige Erbacher 911 with Swiss MFK (German Technical Inspection Association) approval, which caused a sensation at the 19th Arosa Classic Car in the Swiss canton of Graubünden – as a regular starter in the field of participants in the hill climb from Langwies to Arosa, the fashionable winter sports resort at 1,775 meters above sea level.
