I Thought They Were Deep... I Was Completely Wrong! | Lake George Bass Fishing

I headed back to beautiful Lake George, expecting to find post-spawn smallmouth bass grouped up offshore on deep rock piles, humps, and structure. I spent the early part of the day searching deep with Livescope... but something just wasn't adding up. Instead of finding schools of smallmouth, I found mostly rock bass and only a handful of scattered bronzebacks. With the offshore pattern falling apart, I made a major adjustment and moved shallow. That's when everything changed. The key ended up being a simple mix of shallow sand and rock in less than six feet of water, and once I figured that out, the smallmouth started showing up. Lake George never disappoints when it comes to incredible scenery, crystal-clear water, and world-class smallmouth fishing. Even when the fish don't follow the script, it's one of my favorite places to spend a day on the water.
