She is finally mine!: Maverick's first sail

After years of waiting, delays, setbacks, and one very long journey to get here, my new yacht is finally mine! I signed the paperwork the day before, and now it is time to take her out for our first real sail and shakedown cruise. I was definitely a little nervous pulling out of the slip and leaving the marina, but once we raised the sails, the nerves faded and the dream finally started to feel real. We sailed over to Koh Larn, popped a bottle of champagne, poured a little out for Neptune, and dropped anchor in a busy bay full of tour boats and jet skis. By evening, things calmed down, so we lowered the new Highfield dinghy, took the dogs ashore for a beach walk, Olivia went for a swim, and we had dinner on the beach… until a rainstorm forced us to take shelter. This is the first real cruise on my new yacht, and the beginning of a whole new chapter for Sailing Doodles. Thanks for watching!
