You Won’t Believe this Big Glacier is in Kazakhstan | Hiking Bogdanovich Glacier | Day 3

Day 3 in Kazakhstan. Today we braved the cold of Medeu Valley in the Zailiisky Alatau mountain range and hiked our way towards the Bogdanovich Glacier. My first time hiking on snowy and icy trails, which sounds romantic until your toes stop feeling like toes. The cold made everything harder. Breathing, stepping, thinking. But somehow, you keep moving. What surprised me was how emotional it felt to stand in front of something this beautiful. High up, surrounded by ice, mountains, and silence, it hits you how small you are and how intentional creation feels. God’s beauty reflected everywhere you looked, no filters needed. At one point, we had tea inside the glacier. Let that sink in. Sitting there, holding something warm while surrounded by ice, was completely surreal and strangely grounding. Along the way, I learnt something simple but important: small steps really do get you going and get you far. No rushing, no hero moves, just steady progress. Snow is also very deceptive. Those smooth, perfect-looking sides can hide deep patches and holes underneath. Staying on the path others have already walked is not just safer on a mountain, it’s a solid life lesson too. Standing that high up at the glacier, tired, cold, and completely in awe, felt like a quiet win. We ended the day the right way, finally warming up with a good hot meal and very grateful legs.
