The fundamentals of our specialist autism approach at Prior’s Court - a talk/ presentation
For World Autism Acceptance Week 2024, Prior’s Court hosted a series of compelling talks covering a range of topics around autism. On Friday, 19 April, the topic was "Our specialist autism approach at Prior’s Court- a few fundamentals that support each autistic young person in understanding the world around them and ensure we address complex needs". This talk was presented by autism experts in the Prior’s Court team including: Emma Barnes, Therapy Lead Emma oversees Prior's Court's Positive Behaviour Support, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Music Therapy teams. In addition to an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters in Autism, Emma is a Team Teach tutor for Positive Behaviour Support, has completed the 5-day TEACCH course and has a Level 5 in Autism, Stress and Wellbeing. Kirk Smith, Healthiness Learning Specialist Kirk, a trained teacher with more than 10 years of experience in autism at Prior's Court working in both our Residential and Education departments, heads up our Healthiness Area of Learning team. Ruth Over, Autism Practice and Development Lead Ruth has a Masters in autism and has worked in the field for more than 20 years. She is an Advanced Consultant TEACCH trainer and has held a number of leadership roles in her time at Prior's Court.
