Otis hydraulic glass elevator at Messe/Deutz railway station in Cologne

Only topped by the central station, Messe/Deutz railway station is Cologne's second most important station. There are platforms on two levels. The two lower level platforms are only served by long distance trains that bypass the central station, avoiding unnecessairy trips crossing the river Rhine. Platforms at the top level are only served by regional trains, on the other hand, as Cologne central station is just across the river. Despite rather long ways up to the upper platforms, there only is a single passenger elevator at the whole station (not counting the adjacent subway station). Technical specifications: Brand: Otis Capacity: 630kg / ~1390lbs / 8 people Type: hydraulic (roped with two pistons, 2:1 transmission) Year built: 2007 Travel distance: 2 stops
