When heaven withholds our blessings, there is always a reason that needs to be considered before God. In Haggai, the Lord declares: “The heavens above you withhold their dew, and the earth withholds its produce.” The problem was not a lack of land, nor an absence of possibility, but a blessing withheld because something was out of place. The people had been freed to rebuild the house of the Lord, but they left the temple in ruins while they pursued their own houses, their businesses, and their interests. Spiritual life, worship, adoration, and the covenant were relegated to second place, and what should have been a priority was abandoned. Therefore, God commands the people to look back: “Consider your past.” They sowed much and harvested little, ate without being satisfied, clothed themselves without being warm, and their wages seemed to be placed in a leaky bag. They worked, they wore themselves out, they struggled, but the fruits did not accompany their effort. The issue was simple and profound: “You abandoned my things and went after your own things.” When values ​​are inverted, when the Kingdom is relegated to second place and God is only present in the remaining time, life begins to show signs of loss, dryness, and insufficiency. But God is merciful. The same word that confronts also opens the way for restoration. The Lord awakens Zerubbabel, Joshua, and all the people, and they set to work on the house of the Lord. After the correction comes the promise: “I am with you, says the Lord.” It is not just a rebuke, it is a second chance. God calls the people back to the covenant, renews hope, and declares that the glory of the latter house will be greater than that of the former. What was broken can be restored; what was in ruins can be rebuilt; what seemed lost can be visited again by the good hand of the Lord. The review now is not only about the old temple, but about life itself. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, the dwelling place of God, the place where the Lord wants to dwell, heal, cure, save, and restore. How many blessings might be withheld from heaven because there are still obstacles in the heart, unresolved resentments, unconfessed sins, disordered priorities, or paths that need to be reviewed? It's time to place your life on the altar and say: “Search me, Lord, and see if there is any wicked way in me.” The church is not a place for perfect people, but for people interested in improving their relationship with the Lord each day. And, as God searches, corrects, and cleanses, the blessings are counted again, one by one, as signs of the Lord's faithfulness to those who walk in His righteous ways.
