Universal United Kingdom Resort Update | Watercourse Diversion Begins

Construction at Universal United Kingdom Resort has taken another major step forward this week, with dramatic changes across the Core Zone and Lake Zone. One of the biggest developments is the start of preparations to divert the existing watercourse around the outside of the Core Zone. Hedges, bushes and vegetation have now been removed along part of its route, clearing the way for work that will eventually allow the heart of the future theme park to be developed. Across the Core Zone, extensive soil stripping and clearance continue as Phase 1B gathers pace. A huge 75-tonne excavator is now waiting to get to work, while enormous quantities of soil are being excavated, moved and stockpiled around the construction site. Over in the Lake Zone, the landscape is changing almost daily as more material is brought into the area. Sections of this land will be raised to reduce flood risk and prepare the ground for future roads, buildings and resort infrastructure. This operation is expected to intensify when Manor Road closes on 27 July 2026. The closure will allow a major movement of soil from the Core Zone into the Lake Zone using the newly constructed plant crossing. Elsewhere, vegetation clearance continues near the old Guard House, while work progresses around Broadmead Road, the future gateways and the transport areas serving the resort.
