Baker Viaduct Grows Again! Major TRU Progress at Ravensthorpe (Transpennine Route Update)

The TransPennine Route Upgrade continues to gather pace as major engineering work transforms the railway west of Dewsbury. This update focuses on the latest progress at Baker Viaduct, Baker Viaduct East and the Calder Road Bridge replacement in Ravensthorpe. This week’s aerial footage captures further progress on the new grade-separated junction, with bridge decks continuing to take shape, additional girders prepared for future lifts, and more concrete deck sections installed across Baker Viaduct. The emerging track formation also provides an early indication of how the future railway will be aligned through the area. The video also looks at the construction of the new Static Frequency Converter (SFC), the recently realigned National Grid pylon, ongoing utility diversion work, and preparations for the replacement of Calder Road Bridge. Every week the landscape changes, bringing the TransPennine Route Upgrade another step closer to delivering a faster, more reliable and more frequent railway between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.
