Mauerfix renovation fleece doesn't dry out damp masonry – it mechanically decouples the new wall surface from the damp, salt-laden substrate. A moist environment is maintained behind the fleece so that salts remain in solution equilibrium and no crystallization pressure develops, which would otherwise crack plaster and masonry. Water vapor can still diffuse, but the salts themselves cannot – therefore, the humidity in the room does not increase.
