After the fall of the uprising, Warsaw was a dead city… 🕯️ Burnt, torn apart, and condemned to silence. The Germans expelled its inhabitants and methodically destroyed everything that still stood. Yet, among the ruins, people remained. Hidden in basements, sewers, and burned-out houses. Alone, hungry, fighting for survival every day. They were called the Warsaw Robinsons. For weeks, sometimes months, they lived in a ghost town – without light, without food, and with no certainty of seeing the next day. Over a thousand people hid in the ruins of Warsaw, surviving until January 1945.
