Waiting On The Switch #77

Today's trucking vlog starts after a night parked at an abandoned gas station with only one minute left on my driving clock. We hit the road early with 716 km (444 miles) ahead of us, heading north toward Fort Erie, Ontario for a trailer swap before turning right around and grabbing a load bound for Baltimore. The day starts with an unexpectedly easy left turn onto a busy highway, followed by a long drive north through Pennsylvania and New York. After days of rain, we finally find some sunshine along the way and make a quick stop for coffee and a restroom break before continuing toward the border. Once in Fort Erie, we complete the trailer swap, fuel up, and get pointed back toward the United States. As often happens with trailer exchanges, there's some waiting involved, and this time it means sitting nearly 45 minutes for the other driver to arrive. To make matters more interesting, my electronic logbook decides to throw an error message after crossing the border, creating a little extra stress for the rest of the trip. From there it's back across the bridge into New York with one goal in mind: finding a parking spot for the night. Anyone who drives a truck knows how challenging that can be, especially when arriving during the evening rush. With plans to do laundry, grab a shower, and get some much-needed rest, we're hoping there's at least one spot left waiting for us. Thankfully, we find parking and settle in for the night, but even that comes with its own adventure. Between busy laundromats, broken dryers, and carrying wet clothes between truck stops, sometimes the simple tasks become the biggest challenge of the day.
