Fishing Bexhill 15 July 2026

🎣 Bexhill Beach Fishing | Can Fish Still Bite in an Easterly Wind? Everyone says easterly winds are the worst conditions for beach fishing, and this session at Bexhill on 15th July 2026 certainly put that theory to the test. For the last two weeks we'd had high pressure, hot weather and an ENE wind, leaving the sea completely flat with very little movement. There were no signs of whitebait, hardly any reports of mackerel, and bass activity had all but disappeared along this stretch of coast. The only things working in my favour were: 🌊 A spring tide 🌙 Fishing after dark with low light levels Despite the poor conditions, I still managed to avoid the dreaded blank... but it could have been a very different story. During the session I had what looked like a decent fish attacking the bait, but every time it struck it failed to hook up. At first I blamed my casting, thinking I'd flattened the trajectory too much and the hook hadn't been presented correctly. When I got home I discovered the real culprit. I'd been using some Temu copy Gemini Splashdown clips, and one of the flash-down plates was significantly stiffer than the genuine ones I normally use. Because of that, the hook never released from the clip after the cast, meaning the fish was attacking the bait while the hook remained locked in place. A frustrating lesson... and a good reminder that cheaper tackle isn't always a bargain. To finish the night on a positive note, I even managed to retrieve a lost rig complete with a lead, so at least I came home with a little bonus!
