Quick Tip: How To Install the Magpul MP5 SL Grip

Brownells Gun Tech™ Keith Ford shows us how to install the Magpul® SL Grip Module on two popular variants of the H&K MP5. The SL Grip Module gives you a more comfortable angle than the factory grip to make your MP5 easier to control and shoot. It fits a variety of Heckler & Koch MP5 variants and clones, including the SP5 and HK91/93/94 carbines, pistols, and Maschinenpistole. It will NOT fit the MP5K or clones. It WILL fit the Zenith Z5 family, except for the K models. Keith demos installation of the SL Grip on a Zenith Z5 first. Remove the grip housing from the Z5, then remove the trigger pack and safety selector from the housing and transfer them into the SL Grip. The fit might be snug in the SL Grip... be insistent but don't whale on it! Installation on an H&K SP5 is similar - with one difference: you have to remove a tiny bit (couple-three thousands of an inch) of material from the SL Grip. Keith shows us exactly where. Also, if your SP5 has a Navy "pictogram" lower with ambi safety, its trigger pack will NOT fit in the Magpul grip because the H&K safety selector requires a larger diameter hole than the one on the SL Grip.
