La furia del maltempo si abbatte su Piemonte e Lombardia e provoca danni (7 agosto 2024)

On Wednesday 7 August a storm front hit Piedmont in the early afternoon. Almost all the provinces have been affected but damage has been reported in particular in the provinces of Asti, Vercelli, Alessandria and Novara. In Borgosesia, in the province of Vercelli, around 3pm, a strong hailstorm transformed the roads into torrents, leaving ice grains on the sides of the roadways. The strong gusts of wind took off the roofs of some buildings: "It was like a whirlwind, the wind came from below and raised the roof of the house opposite and part of the one where I live - says one of the inhabitants - It wasn't a good situation, now we will count the damage". From Piedmont the disturbance then moved to Lombardy: even from Brianza you could see clouds and lightning striking the city. Once the rain and wind had passed, the damage is counted: 90 interventions by the Milan fire brigade and three tram lines interrupted. One of these in the Lambrate area, with a tree on the cables.
