Incendio boschivo a Premosello-Chiovenda, in Piemonte. Abitanti evacuati: "Il cielo faceva paura"

For over a week, Premosello-Chiovenda has been battling a vast forest fire ravaging the mountain above the town in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola region. During the night between Thursday, July 9th and Friday, July 10th, the fire front approached threateningly to the homes in the hamlet of Cuzzago and the main town of Premosello, according to Mayor Elio Fovanna. Late Thursday afternoon, the mayor himself ordered the evacuation of the hamlet of Colloro, where smoke, in addition to the flames, was becoming a danger to residents. "The sky was scary; it really shocked me. I'd never seen anything like it. My house was full of ash," said a Colloro resident, noting that the air was "unbreathable." At dawn on Friday, Canadairs and helicopters took to the skies to support the firefighting operations with aerial drops. The images show the evolving situation between Friday night and morning.
