Biking Home from Work - April 21, 2026 pm

A lovely day for a bike ride and pretty uneventful. I didn't realize they were restarting construction on Queens Park crescent again, but it turn out not to be an issue. Someone drove a cybertruck to the legislature. It would be interesting to know who that was! At around Bloor and Dundas I found myself behind a parent and a child on one of those bikes with a built in seat on the back. Not sure if it was a pedal assist but it might have been. The kid was wearing a baseball uniform and they had a couple of bats and other stuff in a backpack in the front. Naysayers have been complaining for three years that car restrictions in High Park are preventing kids from going to play baseball. It's complete b.s. but this just provides a little extra evidence of that. They say things like, "you don't realize how much equipment you have to bring with you". I think I do, actually, because I see kids with their backpacks, two bats, cleats, glove, walking or biking to the park all summer. And I've been told that the little league has been given access to storage space in the park, so the organizers don't even have to carry everything in from Bloor Street every time. Car-free High Park works. Then, just before heading home a couple of dudes on motorcycles pulled up. Only one of them had a license plate. When the light turned green they sped off, one of them popping a wheelie. Where's a cop when you need one? Oh right, harassing cyclists in High Park.
