Car-Free High Park - May 17 2026

Summer is almost here, but it's already sunny and beautiful. High Park is lovely without any cars and as you'll see, the lack of vehicle access wasn't a problem for huge numbers of people, including families with young children, kids playing sports, seniors, people with disabilities, people with picnic supplies and so on. The spring road parking lot in the southeast corner of the park, however, was a mess. People were parked illegally along the road, they parked in the hatched area next to accessible parking spaces, they sat idling for who knows how long waiting for a space to open up. This is exactly what the whole park used to be like on a nice day when cars were allowed.
