Christmas on our Norwegian homestead
Christmas Eve on our off grid homestead in Norway 🎄❄️ The day starts quietly, with a little extra care for the animals. The sheep get some dry bread before their hay, the donkey enjoys his breakfast, and the ducks get fresh straw, warm feet on the frozen ground, and bread and water to start the morning. Then it is time for our favourite Christmas traditions on the farm: Christmas porridge for all the animals 🥣🐑🐖 The cats are first. Their “porridge” is actually store bought cat food, which they consider a real luxury. They are used to much better homemade food, but even cats deserve some junk food now and then 😅 The donkey gets oat soup, mixed thin so he does not get too much starch. He cannot tolerate it well, but he absolutely loves it. The sheep share a bucket in the large feeding trough, the pigs eat their oat porridge very loudly with plenty of smacking, legs in the bowl and total enthusiasm 🐷 Chickens and ducks join in too, sending oats flying in every direction. Eventually it is time for Christmas food for us humans as well. We enjoy pork rib and duck breast, with sauerkraut, red cabbage and potatoes. After dinner and dessert, all the Christmas cookies finally make it to the table, seven kinds, as tradition says 🍪 At the end of the video, there is also a small glimpse of the days after Christmas, with pig chores and firewood cutting. Now that the frost has finally arrived, it feels really good to properly get started with firewood production 🔥 Thank you for spending Christmas with us on the farm 😊 Intro music by: @autoburner #homestead #norway #offgrid #farm #farmlife #christmas
