300,000 students at risk of dropping out of school in Mandera County

Close to 300,000 school learners in Mandera County are at risk of missing out when schools reopen next week for the first term this year. The ongoing drought situation in arid and semi-arid counties forced majority of learners to pause their learning ambitions indefinitely. But that could change following an initiative by the county government to introduce a subsidized scholarship program. The program Elimu Kwanza Wote which was unveiled by the County Governor Mohamed Khalif on Monday this week will see 22,000 learners in Public Secondary School benefit.
