Macron oversaw the signing of memorandums of understanding with his counterpart as the battered country tries to lure investors to help it rebuild after 14 years of war. The event comes as explosions rocked Damascus earlier in the day, not far from the Four Seasons Hotel where the French President is reportedly staying. Following the incidents, the French president’s office said he was safe and that his visit to Syria was continuing.
