Фольклорные танцы как средство развития и социального взаимодействия детей с ОВЗ
On May 12, 2026, the Center for Curative Pedagogy and the Special Childhood Expert and Methodological Center held an open webinar on "Folk Dance as a Means of Development and Social Interaction for Children with Disabilities." Folk dance is more than just moving to music. It is a way to connect with oneself, with others, and with culture. When working with children with disabilities, dance becomes a special tool: it helps children feel their bodies, engage in interactions, and experience community. Repetitive rhythmic movements create a clear and predictable structure, making it easier for children to engage in the process, maintain attention, and interact with others. Through movement, a sense of one's own body, its boundaries, and its capabilities is developed. During the webinar, in a live conversation with the course leaders, we discussed: — how this method emerged and what it is based on; — why folk dance is used in working with children with disabilities; — what problems it helps solve; — How to support a child's development, connection, and participation through dance. About the course: Participants will learn about dances from various countries—Sweden, Hungary, the Netherlands, Greece, Israel, and others—and explore how different rhythms and forms support different developmental states and goals. The course includes a coaching module: participants will not only master the methodology and learn how to conduct classes, but also teach it to colleagues in their organizations. The course will be held in person, June 6-7, 2026. Presenters: Ima Yuryevna Zakharova – special education teacher, psychologist, existential analyst, and expert at the Center for Curative Pedagogics. Anna Mikhailovna Paikova – psychologist, visual impairment specialist, and specialist in working with children with severe and multiple developmental disabilities.
