In this video, we thoroughly test the new Ebro S400 hybrid, a compact SUV that's making a strong entrance into the Spanish market and is aiming directly for the heart of the most competitive and in-demand segment. From the outset, we analyze the context of the Ebro brand, its surprising growth in Spain, and how, after the S700 and S800, this S400 with its ECO label could become its key model in terms of concept, size, and price. We begin by reviewing the exterior design of the Ebro S400, highlighting its large front grille, the use of piano black, the sharp LED headlights, and a robust body with pronounced wheel arches, 17-inch wheels, and a length of 4.32 meters. At the rear, we focus on the integrated spoiler, the LED taillights connected by a horizontal strip, and a substantial bumper, very much in line with what's expected of a modern SUV. We also analyze the 430-liter trunk, highlighting its strengths and real limitations. Inside the Ebro S400 hybrid, we focused on the perceived quality, the effective use of padded surfaces, the wood-effect trim, the comfortable steering wheel, and the technological features, including dual 12.3-inch screens, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and well-designed physical buttons. We appreciated the ergonomics, the comfort of the heated seats, and the surprisingly spacious rear seats, even for adults. Mechanically, we explained in detail its 211 hp self-charging hybrid system, comprised of a 95 hp 1.5-liter gasoline engine, a 204 hp electric motor, and a 1.83 kWh battery. We analyzed its real-world performance, highlighting its very low fuel consumption, ranging from 3.8 to 5.5 l/100 km, as well as its impressive range of over 800 km. We were also critical of the power delivery, the engine noise under load, and its clear focus on comfort. We close the video by discussing the price of the Ebro S400 hybrid, starting at €19,990 with financing, and assessing whether it truly offers the best value compared to rivals like the MG ZS Hybrid Plus.
