Exactly 25 years ago, the Real Plan saved Brazil from hyperinflation, freeing the population from the nightmare of seeing the prices of all products increase absurdly every day. This ticking time bomb, set by the military dictatorship, destroyed the population's purchasing power, spread poverty, and generated instability. The Real Plan put an end to the excesses, controlled government spending, and limited the power of politicians. In this way, it allowed the Brazilian people to finally have some power to decide over their own money and some ability to begin planning their own future. In just 2 years, 9 million Brazilians escaped poverty. To recover this history and value the important legacy of the Real Plan for Brazil and the freedom of Brazilians, Livres produced the documentary "Real 25 Years: Much More Than a Currency," which had several screenings throughout the country during the year.
