They also complained that the alleged park identified by the municipality is not registered in the public registry, which would reinforce its claim that it is private land. "We have never invaded a public area; we demand clarification from the mayor," they told the Panorama program. The residents also attributed the controversy to political interests, suggesting that Carlos Bruce is seeking to position himself for a possible new mayoral run. According to their complaints, the issue has been used to publicly discredit them and gain political advantage. The protest sought to make their grievances visible and demand an official reversal of the accusations made by the municipality. THE CONTROVERSY CONTINUES For their part, officials from the Surco Municipality defended the mayor's position and indicated that they have official documents proving that the occupied spaces belong to a public park. The dispute, which combines neighborhood complaints and municipal decisions, remains open and could be resolved in administrative or judicial proceedings in the coming months.
