A woman and her partner were arrested in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, for the death of her son, a baby just 1 year old. The incident occurred at night when the mother, Gabrielly, asked neighbors for help, claiming that the boy had choked. Upon arriving at the hospital, several injuries were discovered on Miguel, indicating abuse. Gabrielly screamed for help while a neighbor tried unsuccessfully to dislodge the obstruction from the boy's airway. The stepfather, Rafael, also tried to resuscitate the baby before the police arrived. However, Miguel was already dead. Gabrielly stated that she had left Miguel with her stepfather while she was in the bathroom. Upon hearing strange noises, she ran to the bedroom and found Rafael holding the child, saying that the baby was choking. At the hospital, it was found that Miguel had suffered abuse, including injuries to his head and limbs, as well as signs of sexual violence, according to medical reports.
