Bisi Bele Bath originated in the royal kitchens of the Mysore Palace in Karnataka, India. Translating to "hot lentil rice" in Kannada, it was originally a simpler dish known as bisi bele hulianna and has since evolved into a complex, spiced, one-pot meal.
