American Travels to Real Betis - Matchday Experience in Sevilla Vlog día de partido fútbol

Real Betis is one of Spain's most well known clubs. They have a beautiful badge, a stadium of 60,000 people, and have the 3rd highest average attendance in La Liga after Real Madrid and Barcelona. But despite their amazing football fans, they don't usually win trophies or titles. Usually, their biggest match of the year is against archrivals Sevilla, a match known as the "Gran Derbi" (great derby). When I, as an American soccer fan, was in Seville, Spain, I knew I had to attend a match at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, and feel the passion of a club whose motto is "Manque pierda", which means "even if we lose....". As one Real Betis fan explains it, the motto is a declaration of love, of unwavering support of the club regardless of results. During this La Liga match, I not only met some amazing and friendly fellow footy fans, but I also got to try local specialties like "Tinto de Verano" - a mixed drink with red wine and soda, as well as "chicharrones" - deliriously delicious fried pork fat.
