99% Tourists Visit Kalam But Miss This Hidden Waterfall (DONCHAR GUL) - EP:04
On the morning of 8 May 2026, I woke up beside the beautiful Saif Ullah Lake (Under 11,200 ft), where I had camped the previous night. After offering prayer and spending some peaceful moments near the lake, I prepared breakfast with boiled eggs and tea before packing my camp. Before leaving, I also cooked rice and packed it in a lunch box for later in the day. From Saif Ullah Lake, I rode my bike to Naseer Ullah Lake and started a one-hour hike towards Donchar Gul Waterfall. During the hike, I passed through massive marble and granite mountains, colorful flower-filled meadows, and breathtaking landscapes. Finally, I reached the viewpoint of the hidden Donchar Gul Waterfall. Local shepherds usually build a temporary wooden bridge over the river during the summer season, but since the season had not started yet, the bridge was missing. Because of that, I watched the waterfall from the opposite side of the river. I spent nearly two hours there without realizing how quickly time had passed. The beauty of this place completely surrounds you. If someone calls it the second Manthoka Waterfall of Pakistan, it would not be wrong. Further ahead from this region are two famous mountain passes: Kachakuni Pass (14,500 ft), which connects Swat with Upper Dir and Chitral’s village Sorlaspur, and Dadreli Pass (15,200 ft), which connects Swat with Hundrab Valley in District Ghizer, Gilgit Baltistan. The best time to cross these passes is from 15 June to 15 August — and InshaAllah, I will cross them later this year. After spending enough time at the waterfall, I returned to Saif Ullah Lake and enjoyed the rice I had cooked earlier in the morning while sitting beside the peaceful lake. I also met some tourists from Lahore and had a great conversation with them. Later, while enjoying the beautiful views along the way, I reached Kalam and rented a room for the next two nights because I needed time to edit my videos. And this is how my adventurous day came to an end. #DoncharGulWaterfall #KalamValley #TravelWithNabeel #SwatValley #pakistantourism Subscribe to Travel with Nabeel to explore more hidden gems across Pakistan.
