AVENIDA PAULISTA: DERRUBARAM TUDO? | Arquitetura Esquecida

On another walking tour, this time along Paulista Avenue, I visited the remaining old buildings of the most famous avenue in the city of São Paulo. In theory, nothing is left! Paulista Avenue was inaugurated in 1891 and was home to the mansions of the Coffee Barons and other personalities of the São Paulo elite of the time. Paulista has undergone many transformations, the most evident being the verticalization of the region and the change in the avenue's purpose, which went from a residential area for the wealthy to a bustling commercial corridor full of tourists. At the end of the video, I visited the only remaining residential mansion from the first phase of occupation of Paulista Avenue. A jewel of São Paulo's historical heritage that is empty and forgotten by the public authorities, crumbling before the eyes of those who pass by. A shame! Come along on this tour with me?
